About Wajer Yachts

Established in 1992 in Heeg (NL), Wajer is renowned for its forward-thinking approach. The yard has made history with unique models – the Captain’s Launch (Kapiteinsloep), the Wajer 37, 38, 38 S and 55 – each characterised by elegant design, impeccable sailing performance and excellent durability. All boats share the premium quality that customers expect from premium Dutch design and production.

Founding Father

Company founder Dorus Wajer has spent most of his life on the water. Being a perfectionist, he often used to come up with ways to improve the boats he saw. Following his heart, Dorus started building his own launches on the lakes near Amsterdam in 1992. The Captain’s Launch, still famous for its quality, craftsmanship and iconic lines, dates from this period. Building on innovation in product development, Dorus’ yard went from strength to strength.

Family owned

As a family-owned business, Wajer is known for its customer focus and respect for agreements. Dorus’ son Dries, who shares his father’s vision, perfectionism and passion for watersports, joined the company in 2010. They’ve since further developed the Wajer models and enhanced the company’s professionalism. Today, the name Wajer stands for fine Dutch design, the best sailing qualities and state-of-the-art service.

The growth and reputation of Wajer can also be attributed to the strong bond we have built up with owners as clients have become friends. The input and experience of satisfied customers have helped us develop our boats in tune with market demands. We also partner with leading designers, naval architects and marine equipment suppliers, making the most of our roots in the Dutch premium quality yachting sector.

The yard

The first-class facilities at Wajer include a 4000 m. production hall, 1500 m. of winter storage and 16 fixed boathouses. The yard’s location in the northern Dutch province of Friesland offers access to a rich tradition of skilled boatbuilders. Some 55 craftsmen work in the modern facility which lies directly on the water, making testing of new boats a breeze.
